We completed the course when our baby was tiny and now am very thankful we did. At 8 months old now and into everything, he started to choke on an ice cube. He went red, couldn't cough and was starting to go blue. The invaluable advice learnt at the course most certainly helped to save his life! Thank you Mini First Aid x
Just attended a dad’s class to brush up on some first aid for toddlers and babies. I thought Claire was a brilliant trainer, who got all the information across in an informative and interesting way. Would thoroughly recommend it to any parents to be, or parents of young children. Hopefully I will never have to use most of it. But if I do, I will know what to do. Thanks Claire
One afternoon, we were enjoying a day out in the sunshine and had stopped to feed our daughter of 7 months, she’s just started solid food and we’d been giving her sliced banana to chew on. On this particular day, she inhaled a small piece and began to choke. I quickly remembered Martin’s words, put her in the proper hold, bottom in the air and one forceful strike between her shoulder blades dislodged the banana and although she was shocked, she was able to breathe again and I can’t tell you how relieved we felt! It may have only been 10 seconds in which she couldn’t breathe but it was terrifying. Had I not had the training from Martin and Mini First Aid, I cannot even begin to imagine how differently the situation could have turned out. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the training I received enabled me to save our daughter’s life.
Hi Claire, I just wanted to thank you for the refresher first aid course I attended earlier in the year. I had hoped that I would never need to use the skills I had acquired through the course but last week I had to with my 8 week old baby Isla. Isla contracted meningitis, thankfully the viral strain and is recovering nicely but meningitis all the same. The advice given at the session on signs & symptoms plus the recommendation to download the Meningitis Foundation app for my mobile, meant that I was able to get my baby tested and antibiotics started quickly. Your course should be on everyone’s list of ‘things to do’ before the birth of their child and a refresher attended when felt required. Thanks again and great course will always recommend it to my friends & colleagues! Best wishes Rachel
We attended the Mini First Aid class when I was pregnant last year. Fast forward to now and my baby girl is 8months old and my training has just saved her life! My daughter began silently choking on a piece of toast and had started to turn purple, because of my training I remained as calm as can be in that situation and was able to get her in the correct position and give her some black blows and retrieve the nasty culprit. £20 I paid for that course, it was the best £20 I ever spent because my daughter's life is priceless. I know for a fact before attending the course I would have just panicked and screamed, not knowing the best course of action. Thank you so much Mini First Aid, you saved my daughter's life and for that I'm eternally grateful.
Mini First Aid came to deliver ‘Paediatric First Aid’ to 9 practitioners at Kids Academy. Many of the practitioners had previously completed first aid training but were amazed at how much more they learnt through the sessions Mini First Aid delivered. The practitioners who had no previous training were initially apprehensive but were quickly reassured and now have the confidence that they know what to do should their training ever be needed. The activities were clearly explained, appropriate to the setting and easy to follow. Mini First Aid delivered the training in a relaxed and informal manner but at all times conveyed the importance of accurately implementing the techniques required. I would definitely recommend Mini First Aid to any setting or individual!
I have worked with small children for many years and have always been terrified of the thought of applying the first aid training i'd had in the past. But after 2 hours with Hayley I truly feel more confident. The course was clear, calm and specifically geared towards the problems i'd face in my job. It made me think of things I hadn't before making me a safer and more prepared teacher in the case of an emergency.
My husband and I attended one of Claire’s classes today in Chapel Allerton. I am due to give birth next week and I have absolutely zero experience with any age of child so felt it vital gained some first aid knowledge. Claire is a very welcoming and really makes you feel at ease. I found her teaching style very good and In just two hours I feel I gained the skills and confidence to handle any first aid situations if they should arise!
I cannot recommend Mini First Aid enough. Kate ran a private class for me and my 11 year old daughter in the comfort of our own home, which was perfect especially as my babies are due any day now. My daughter and I feel much more confident in knowing what to do in a range of emergency situations and I also got some extra twin tips from Kate as a fellow twin Mum! It's such an important life skill that every parent and carer should have so I would urge you to book a Mini First Aid course today.
This first aid course was fantastic. I’d highly recommend it to all parents out there. We looked into doing a first aid course after my daughter had a febrile convulsion whilst on holiday, which was a very scary experience. Mini First Aid covers convulsions on the course as well as choking, burns, CPR and meningitis awareness. The trainer was warm and welcoming. I left the course feeling much more confident in knowing what to do…I just hope I never have to put any of it into practice!
It was a pleasure meeting Kate and Jacky from Mini First Aid and being taught what to do in case of an emergency. Learning CPR and what to do when a child is choking is invaluable. Obviously, I hope I never had to use the things I learned in today’s class, but horrible things happen and knowing these techniques can really make a huge difference. The class was fun and accessible given the seriousness of the topic. I would highly recommend everyone doing it.
The Mini First Aid Class (filmed for ITVBe) was a fantastic class, both Arg and I found it a really good and informative session
Sky are always looking for ways to better support their staff and Parents@Sky Network offers support and benefits to staff who are parents. I came across Mini First Aid through a Facebook promotion and there was a huge demand for the Infant and Child First Aid class which was shared on our internal and external social channels. The communication and organisation of the event was excellent - Sarah-Lou was professional, engaging and even injected some parent style humour! The class was interactive and educational - everyone took something away from it including much more confidence in dealing with any emergencies which could arise with their little ones. The feedback received on the back of it was amazing! It was a great success and hopefully something we can do again, and potentially roll out to other sites in the UK. Thank you Mini First Aid, you were a pleasure to deal with!
Following the fantastic fundraising efforts of the club before Christmas, Basing Royals FC is now the proud owner of a defibrillator! The news has covered many high-profile footballers who have suffered a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) but a lesser known fact is that 12-14 youngsters die every week from a sudden cardiac arrest – there are no outward signs, no warning and no chance of survival without a defibrillator. Having this piece of kit is essential for our club. To support this initiative, the club has also just run a First Aid course for kids and parents covering all the essential first aid techniques with hands on practice too. Run by Mini First Aid this was a hugely valuable class for all involved. Whilst we’re hoping we won’t need to use our new defib and skills, as a FA Charter Standard club, we’re feeling confident and prepared should the worst happen!
There are a gazillion things I never seem to get around to doing (fixing the broken blind in our bedroom, getting some photos printed of ‘the baby’ who is almost two but still doesn’t exist on our walls, pinning down the coffee date I’ve been promising my neglected friend via WhatsApp for at least 6 months…) BUT this morning I finally got my arse in gear and ticked off something from my ‘Really Must Do’ list by attending a First Aid class designed specifically for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children. It took just two hours out of my morning and covered a whole host of stuff including what to do if a child is choking, how to deal with burns/breaks/bleeding and the basics of life-saving CPR for kids.
"We are so glad we have done a Mini First Aid class. We enjoyed the class, found it really useful and feel so much more prepared in the build up to having our baby.”
